Martha -Technician Team Leader
Martha graduated from NCSU with a Bachelors of Science in Animal Science. She has been with Riverside since 1989. She enjoys working with animals and having free time to play with her horses. Martha has one dog, Patti Cake and three cats. Martha is married to her husband Donald, and their pets are their children. Martha has a horse farm where she teaches riding lessons, trains horses, and enjoys her own 4 horses, two Morgans, an American Saddlebred and a Paint horse. Martha is a member of the Virginia-Carolina Morgan Horse Club and the USEF. While attending NCSU, Martha was chosen to work at Unit 10 Beef Cattle Unit where she worked on several research projects. Martha is teaching a Veterinary Assistant class at Nash Community College this fall..
Kaye- Technicial Team Trainer
Kaye started her career in veterinary medicine in 1988 at North Church Street
Veterinary Hospital, Riverside’s second hospital for many years. She worked with several different veterinarians over the years and has enjoyed learning something new from each of them. Kaye has always loved animals and knows no better way to enjoy them than to serve as a veterinary technician.
Kaye grew up in a military family traveling around the world but came back to Edgecombe County to live and raise her family. Kaye has been married for over thirty years to her husband, Perry, who has worked more than 30 years at Nash Health Care. She has two wonderful children and one very wonderful grandchild. Felecia, Kaye’s daughter, is a CNS at Vidant Health Care, Greenville and is on the faculty at Edgecombe Community College nursing program. Her son, Thomas, is a grocery manager at Food Lion in Tarboro and is a tournament softball player. Kaye also has many furry friends that share the couch with her and her family.
Amanda – Senior Veterinary Assistant
Amanda earned her bachelor of Science in Animal Science from NC State University in May 2012. She joined the Riverside team in October 2012. She loves helping animals in need and since middle school has known she wanted to be involved in veterinary medicine.
Amanda is the youngest of four sisters. Her family lives in Hollister, NC. She has two dogs, Dumbo and Milo. Amanda enjoys bowling movies and hanging out with friends.
Carlene, RVT - Registered Veterinary Technician
Carlene is a 2008 graduate of Cedar Valley Community College, with an Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology. Carlene joined the Riverside team as a licenced veterinary technician in 2014. Carlene's love for animals started when she was very young, when she told her mother she would one day have a horse- even though they lived in the city!
Carlene is currently engaged and has 3 adult children ( 1 son and 2 daughters) and 7 grandchildren. Carlene also shares her home with 2 horses, 5 cats, and several chickens. Carlene used to breed and show Great Danes and at one point owned a large kennel with 6 Great Danes and lots of puppies! Even though she enjoyed it, she realized there are too many homeless puppies in the world and decided to stop breeding dogs. Now, she loves to spend her spare time brushing and caring for her horses, watching her chickens play, and riding her Harley to new places.
Josh– Junior Veterinary Assistant
Joshua is a senior at Nash Central High School and is a part of the Youth Apprentice Program in Nash-Rocky mount Public Schools. Josh’s plans are to go on to NC State to major in Biology and continue on to receive his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and specialize in orthopedic surgery. Josh loves animals with a passion and loves to see an animal recovering and doing better.
Jacqueline - Senior Veterinary Assistant
Jacquie is a graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan College with degrees in Sociology and Anthropology. She is also currently attending Nash Community College to receive her Veterinary Assistant certification. Jacquie joined the Riverside team in October of 2012 as a member of the grooming team and now works as a veterinary assistant. Jacquie enjoys her job at Riverside because it gives her the chance to work with animals and learn about veterinary medicine.
Jacquie has 2 dogs, Rex and Mocha. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, kayaking, traveling, and spending time with her family, friends, and pets.
Sandy - Junior Veterinary Assistant
Sandy is a certified veterinary assistant and graduated in 2014 from the Veterinary Assistant program at ABC College. Sandy has always loved animals and wanted a career that enabled her to help animals. Sandy has 2 dogs, Pep and Dutchess, and 5 cats Nub, Lincoln, Squeakers, Big Mamma, and Lil Mama.
In her spare time Sandy enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with her son and pets.
Jennifer - Junior Veterinary Assistant
Jennifer is a junior at Rocky Mount High School and has been volunteering at Riverside since March of 2014. In September of 2014, Jennifer officially joined the Riverside staff. She enjoys her job because she gets to help the veterinarians and pets and learn new things. Jennifer is fluent in Spanish, has 2 cats, is a member of her school's chapter of FCCLA, and loves to travel (she's been to 9 states!).
John - Senior Veterinary Assistant
John is a graduate of Pitt Community College's Nursing Science program. John retired from nursing after 20 years in the field and has been with Riverside since April of 2015. John and his wife are active animal rescue volunteers and love to work with rescues to find homes for pets in need. He also has several rescue dogs of his own! In his spare time, John enjoys gardening, exercising, playing guitar, and crossword puzzles.
